How McCarl Dental Group Supports the Millersville, MD Community
At McCarl Dental Group, being members of our community is about more than just running a successful dental practice. We love working with the families who have entrusted us with their smiles since we opened our first Millersville dental office in 1938, but we also believe it’s important to provide support for those in our community after we leave the office. That’s why we’ve done dentistry a little differently since Dr. James W. McCarl became Millersville’s first dentist in 1938. When our patients visit us, we offer the tailored treatment that fits their needs, wants, finances, and schedule, and we work with each client to find the right solution. In short, we actually listen to our patients and get to know them, so we always offer the right treatment options. Once we leave the office, our team members apply that heart for service when it comes to giving back to the community and advocating for those may feel unheard. We listen to our community and provide support, including attending healthcare events, giving educational seminars, just taking part in local events, and more. Our years of service in and out of the office have led to McCarl Dental Group receiving numerous “Best of” awards from The Capital Readers’ Choice Awards, Severna Park voice, Chesapeake Family Magazine, and What’s Up? Annapolis. Keep reading to learn more about how our award winning dental team supports the Millersville community. Feel free to reach out if you’re interested in joining us at community events or you have a local project or organization that could benefit from our support.
Stanton Center
The Stanton Community Center hosts the Annapolis, Maryland Outreach Center Dental Clinic, and Dr. Clayton McClar has proudly volunteered at this clinic for more than a decade. The program is operated by the Anne Arundel Medical Center. It provides free dental care through a network of local dentists, dental hygienists, and dentistry professions from Annapolis, Millersville, and surrounding communities. The goal of this outreach clinic is to offer access to health services for those with no insurance as well as the underinsured.
The Travis Manion Foundation
1st Lt. Travis Manion of the United States Marines Corps described the sense of duty he, his family, and his fellow service members felt simply by stating, “If not me, then who?” This dedication to community is honored each year in the Travis Manion Foundation 5k race in Annapolis, which benefits veterans and families of services members. Doctor Jay McCarl was happy to participate in this event with Bill Contarino in September of 2019.
BWMC Heartbeat for Health
BWMC Heartbeat for Health is an event where complimentary healthcare services and health education are provided for community members. We’ve participated for several years, offering dental treatments and oral healthcare education and hygiene products for patients.
Annapolis Wellness House
The Annapolis Wellness House is a non-profit organization that supports free programs and services for the survivors of cancer. We have proudly backed this organization for many years, offering a variety of services, educational seminars, and financial support. Dr. Clayton McCarl has conducted seminars to help those impacted by cancer care for their smiles before, during, and after cancer treatments. We have also sponsored the Wellness House Sporting Clays Classic and other programs and events hosted by this organization.
SPAN Turkey Trot
Each year we contribute to the SPAN Turkey Trot. This annual event helps to provide essential items and support for local families in need, including food, help with utilizes, infant supplies, and medical treatments.
Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA)
We are proud to support CASA of Anne Arundel County. We have contributed certificates for services as awards for their annual CASAblanca Gala fundraiser, and we often attend the event. It's a great opportunity to offer support and encouragement for the volunteers who dedicate so much time and effort to give back to children who need their advocacy.
